IpTL Receives Renewal of UAE TRA Type Approvals

Posted by Comments Off on IpTL Receives Renewal of UAE TRA Type Approvals

BALITMORE, MD, USA 9 July 2015 –  IP Technology Labs announces today that it has received the renewal of its product and company registration type approvals from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  IpTL was initially granted original TRA approvals in July 2012.  The TRA type approval is widely recognized by countries in the Middle East. Having this product registration certificate means that most countries in the Middle East will approve these products.

“TRA type approval for our FastLane Secure Ethernet products continues our commitment to our presence in the Middle East,” said Scott Whittle, President IPTL. “The market, our partners,  and customers recognize the importance of such approvals to ensure confidence in our solution as well as its use within the region.  Of course, one of the first things one asks is – are you TRA approved.”

IpTL Provides Security Against LogJam Attack

Posted by Comments Off on IpTL Provides Security Against LogJam Attack

You may have read or heard about concerns recently over various encryption and "secure" VPN methodologies, including the so-called "LogJam Attack".   This attack basically looks to “mess up” the selection of encryption used on a link to force it to a weak link that is crackable.

The real problem is with poorly configured HTTPS and SSL VPN’s which are trying to support legacy applications.  IpTL has always had security at the forefront of our connectivity and as such we are not vulnerable to this attack.

Here are some key points which are standard in any IpTL solution:

    • IpTL secure links do not use SSL or HTTPS. We are built on TLSv1.2 and use AES 256 encryption default.

    • There are no weak export ciphers in our system.

    • We use 2,048 bit RSA asymmetric keys.

    • IpTL is a closed symmetric system with our appliances or virtual machines are on both ends of the link and not point-security solution.

Thus, we can guarantee AES 256 encryption on your data and no one can force a downgrade to another encryption level which can be broken.   If the cipher spec is altered then no connection will take place and no data leaked.

    • With our Tunnel Authentication passphrase you can input a 64 character passcode which locks even the initial TLS communications between the endpoints.  Note: this is not the encryption pre-shared key (we don’t offer preshared keys!)

When using this feature only the appliances sharing the same passphrase can communicate.  Any other connection attempts are ignored…you can’t even get the server to respond to a non-authorized connection to attempt a downgrade.  This is above and beyond our standard ephemeral key exchanges and HMACs of TLS!

    • IpTL offers the elliptical curve AES 256 GCM with SHA 384 as a cipher option for true state-of-the-art confidentiality, standard!

Email us at marketing@iptechnologylabs.com and ask for our Security White Paper for even deeper details on how we connect and secure your network!

Posted by Comments Off on IpTL Releases FastLane Firmware 3.2.6 with user Defined MultiLevel Authentication Features

New firmware, Version 3.2.6, for all IpTL FastLane appliances is now available.  As part of IpTL’s continuous improvement and customer initiatives we are product to add to following to our solution set:

    • Multilevel authentication.  An access system has been introduced which allows custom usernames and passwords to view, manage, or modify a running appliance.   This feature enables a username based permissions structure to allow limited management of  an appliance. Usernames can be added and read/write access to individual components in the system can be customized based on the requirements of the user.
    • Custom management views.  Each user can have a custom view of the system which can include any of the available header links. Web headers can be visible and not accessible or can be setup as standard available links. The custom view also provides the ability to define a custom landing page.
    • Custom user links.  Each user can have a custom view of the links available in the navigation section of the system. Web links can be visible and not accessible or can be setup as standard available links.
    • Appliance Tunnel Revocation List.  Local appliance managers can  disposition and block a remote device from connecting to the server. Devices can be added to the revocation list manually by typing in the Real Time Resource ID for the remote device. Or the device can be added to the Revocation List once connected using the button on the Tunnel Connection Page.
    • Various general updates and resolved issues; such as
      • Factory default on push button is now 5 seconds to completed
      • Detached tunnel support
      • Various networking links intuitively reordered

Please see the release notes for complete details.

3.2.6 is now available to all users, and all IpTL appliances, without additional charge.  Please contact upgrades@iptechnologylabs.com to obtain your download link.
